Union Grove ISD is instituting a telephone broadcast system that will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start.  The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by SchoolReach, which specializes in school-to-parent communications. Union Grove ISD will continue to report school closings due to ice, snow or weather via television and radio and will use this system in addition to the public announcements.

When used, the service will simultaneously call all listed phone numbers in UGISD’s parent contact list and will deliver a recorded message from Brian Gray or another school administrator. The service will deliver the message to both live answer land and cell lines and answering machines.

Union Grove ISD’s Superintendent Brian Gray said, “This gives us the opportunity to contact parents at the touch of a button and keep them informed of any situation.”  He added, “It is the mission of Union Grove ISD to provide a quality education in the safest environment possible.  We feel that this system can help us do that.”

UGISD is asking parents to update any phone numbers as needed with their campus administrators.  Union Grove hopes to have the system up and running by the end of the month.
